Tribal Lion + Dragon by blackbutterfly006 Tribal Lion + Dragon by blackbutterfly006
This was...challenging, but really fun to do! (though I have no idea how to draw tribal CHAINS, as you can see...T.T) The Base and lineart was taken from :iconlucky978: The original can be found here: [link]
Well, I hope you like it!

I take commissions, for information just send me a note :)

Please ask me before using my art elsewhere!^^

XD your design isn't stupid! If it was, I probably wouldn't use it :D I might try to color it as well with some watercolors (you really made me wanting to try that out XD) By the way, what materials do you use? Normal paper or a special kind of canvas and special colors? :D
And you don't have to worry about a late comment, we've got plenty of time. It's not like you HAD to write a comment anyways ^^

XD Well I really do love what you did with it :)
I normally paint on vellum bristol board. It curls a bit more than watercolor paper, but I like the smooth look it gives. The curling can be combated by using less water than you might normally use, and by taping down the edges of the paper with painters tape; however, if you are just getting started with watercolor it might be best to try a watercolor paper. As for watercolors I use Van Gogh and PH Martin's. The PH Martin's are very vibrant... I'm not sure if you already have watercolors. Hmm As for colors, I always like complex color schemes. It is best to avoid black at all costs, as it will muddy up the rest of the colors. If you have a really dark area, use black at the very end.

Thank you so much for all the information! It sounds really complicated though..:/ I don't have any watercolors yet (except old ones from elementary school...yeah, I didn't use that stuff much XD) but I probably won't start with a too expensive set...I just have the feeling that my abilities for such things are..like...non-existant XD

For this work, I like it. It's just that the mane on the line looks a good bit too big. If you could half the size of it in the back, that would be a good bit better. I see hoe it is strikingly similar in design to the linework, and that is a good thing. But, for this, it might be better to half the size of the mane in the rear. Length-wise, of course. Outside of that, it is damned good. Kudos, my friend.

I see what you mean, but probably I won't change anything about this one since it was just a little idea to keep me busy :D And I've planned to make a lion head soon, so I'll try harder then ^^

Sure, your work. Whatever you feel is right, then that is right for you.

Apology to you for the typo of "hoe" in place of "how." The second one was what it should've been. I love these beautiful devices and their prone ability to cause a mishap.

XD Don't worry about that, I have a friend that makes typing-mistakes all the time, so I'm used to such things and I automatically know what the writer actually wanted to say :D
